Week 2 - Pelican - May 28, 2020

Hello fishing enthusiasts, dickheads and assholes. I hope you're all doing well, especially since we are making sure we follow the strict social distancing guidelines at the landing when we measure our fish. Actually, it was colder than a witches tit on the water, so I think C19 wouldn't have survived anyway.

I have a little bit of business to get to before we talk about the winners. As you know, the DNR wants us to keep up to 10 pike each under 20 inches. It seems there was a bit of confusion regarding the rules. In particular, the part about half points. We're not doing half points this year...that is just a plain pain in the ass. My spreadsheet isn't set up to handle half points, and I'm not going to change it so it can. Instead, we're going to do it like we did last year. We will keep a running total of all pike under 20, and the team with the most get's $50 at the end of the year. Got it? Good. BTW, Mark & Luther lead that right now with 6.

Net boy and I really suck at fishing, but ya know what? We already knew that going into this year, so it doesn't matter. Getting outside and being on the water with good friends is what really matters. So here are the fuckers that took cash out of their friends hands on Pelican. First off, it was the biggest 10 team total point night we've ever had on Pelican. There were a lot of fish caught, but Troy and Brent edged everyone else out with a nice 33 point night. That's pretty amazing since Troy told me they didn't have a walleye or pike with an hour to go, and those were the fish that put them over the top. Jamie and Chuck won the big fish pot by a quarter of an inch with a 29.25" Pike. Congrats guys.

Since I now know how many teams we have and everyone has paid their entry fee, here is the money breakdown for this year:

Money Breakdown: (based on 10 teams & 10 events)
·         Entry Fees                   $1500
·         Most Pike Caught       $50
·         Expenses                      $50
·         Nightly Winner           $750 ($75 per event)
·         Big Fish Pot                  $500 ($50 per event)
·         Year End 1st Place        $125

·         Year End 2nd Place       $75

We're on Edward next...June 11th from 6-9:30 so I'll see you then!

Week 1 - Gull Lake - May 21, 2020

Our long awaited season has indeed finally begun. We backed it up a week because of some bullshit rule that being in the boat OUTSIDE in the sun with someone other than a family member, was against some bullshit rule our DICK-tater came up with.

It was a good night to be on the water, but is there really ever a bad night to be on the water? It was good, except for the start. Team asshole threw safety out the window, and kept squeezing net boy and me closer and closer to the shoreline. Who in the hell does that just to get to a fishing spot quicker? They claimed they were pushed towards us by Sam & Brian. I don't know about that, because all I could see was team asshole trying to push us into an oncoming dock. Great move assholes. Most of our two man high testosterone teams, without gay tendencies, avoided the race in the beginning, and went to someplace other than Love. The two teams that entered Love were happy little campers when they came out.

I'm not sure where everyone went, but everyone caught fish, and team Dickhead picked up right where they left off last year. The only difference being, they brought beer with them to share this week. That means they are thoughtful and nice dickheads, and the rest of us appreciated it very much as we stood around not practicing social distancing while enjoying the beer you brought. I'm glad you started that tradition of bringing beer for everyone to all of the events this year. Thanks guys!

Like I said, team DH picked up right where they left off with scoring the first victory of the season with 35 points. They were followed closely by Mark & Luther with 31 and Simon & Paul with 29 points. Simon & Paul also had the largest fish of the night, with a skinny ass pike that measured just under 30 inches. There was only one walleye caught, that being by team DH, but it was enough to score a tri-fecta which turned out to be the difference.

We're on to Pelican next week on the 28th. Bass season will be open by then, and there are no special regulations on Pelican, unless Brett looks it up on the internet and finds out differently.

One more thing. I didn't hear from Chad & Dan that they are not fishing, so if someone knows if they aren't let me know. They were the only no show, and if they're out, that leaves us with nine teams.

See you next week!

2020 Fishing Season is Here!

Well, this Co Vid 19 shit sucks. We weren't able to have a spring meeting this year, so here's what we're doing. We're starting the season on the 14th, with our first outing being on Gull. We'll use the 371 landing this year, because the road from Holiday to Grandview is pretty torn up. I would like everyone to bring a check this year for the entry fee, which is $150 per boat. Make the check payable to Brad Wallace. The payout schedule and league rules can be found by clicking HERE. If the new guys have any questions or concerns, tough shit; deal with it. Or if you can't figure something out, text or call me. Woman is out this year, and I've replaced it with Thunder, which is about 10 minutes farther north of Roosevelt. I've never been on it, but I've heard good things, so we'll see. That's it...here is the schedule for 2020:

May 14th         Gull                6:00-9:00  371 Landing (road work from Holiday to Grandview)
May 28th         Pelican           6:00-9:30  Stewart’s Bay Landing
June 11th         Edward          6:00-9:30
June 25th         Roosevelt      6:00-9:30
July 23rd         Whitefish       6:00-9:30  Lower Hay Lake Landing
July 30th          Rabbit             6:00-9:00
August 13th    Thunder         6:00-9:00
August 27th    N Long           5:30-8:30
Sept 3rd           Rice                4:00-8:00
Sept 10th         Whitefish       4:00-8:00  West Shore Drive Landing on Cross Lake

Here are the make-up dates if needed as well:

May 21st         6:00-9:00 Gull
June 4th          6:00-9:30 Pelican
July 2nd           6:00-9:30 Roosevelt
August 20th    6:00-9:00 WFC, Rabbit or Thunder
Sept 17th           4:00-7:30 N Long, Rice or Whitefish

By State Reg: All Pike between 22 & 26 inches must be immediately released. Two over 26 may be kept. Limit of 10 Pike under 22 inches is ENCOURAGED.

2020 Pike Rules:
·         All Pike between 22 & 26 inches will be photographed on a bump board (not a gunnel side ruler or tape measure…no exceptions} and released.
·         There will be no minimum on Pike. Up to 20 Pike per boat under 22 inches can be kept and 1/2 point will be awarded for each fish. (If all you have are fish under 22 inches, then four of them will receive 1 point each, thus creating a fill for the night…all others will receive ½ point) No measuring will be necessary, but all Pike must be counted and removed from the lake in order to receive the allotted points. (Putting them in a bucket rather than your live well may be a wise choice)
·         If you choose not to remove the fish, Pike under 22 inches will still be counted, but only 1 point per fish up to the “fill” amount of 4 will be counted. In other words, the old rules apply if you choose not to take the fish home.
This rule will also affect big fish points for the night. We will not use a photograph for determining big fish; only measured fish will be eligible, so it is possible that a Pike just under 22 inches could take the big fish pot. It’s also possible, that a Bass or Walleye could be big fish for the night.

EXCEPTION: If you catch a big fish and fear it will die if you keep it in your live well, a picture will be allowed to be used for the big fish pot. Take a picture of you holding the fish, and a picture of the fish on the bump board.
